Tattoo Aftercare

List of Items Needed:

  • Fragrance Free, dermatologically – safe,  antimicrobial soap – Dial or Mrs. Meyers are the standard.

  • Paper Towels.

  • Tattoo Lovers CBD Care Salve – do not share your salve with anyone else to prevent cross contamination.

 Instructions:

  1. Leave on your bandage/covering for 1-2 hours after you leave the shop.

  2. Wash your hands thoroughly.

  3. Gently take the bandage off.

  4. Run your faucet with lukewarm water.

  5. Wash your hands again.

  6. Take a quarter-sized amount of soap, and gently clean the residue off the tattoo. Do NOT scrub. Do NOT scratch. Do NOT peel.

  7. Gently dab-dry the tattooed area with a paper towel. Do not wipe or rub; this is an open wound. Reducing excess trauma to the skin is necessary in a successful healing process. Wash your hands again.

  8. Take a small amount of Tattoo Lovers Care, and apply a tear drop of the salve. You do not want to over-apply this salve because it will clog the pores of your skin and your skin needs to breathe. Overapplication of the salve can result in unnecessary irritation/acne, redness, discoloration, pimples, and heavy scabbing.

  9. Repeat this process for TWO TIMES A DAY for TWO WEEKS. Always make sure that your hands are clean before touching the tattoo. Gently wash your tattoo at least once a day.

  10. DO NOT PICK at your tattoo. Pulling at flaking skin or scabs will prolong healing, remove color, or re-open wound to potential infections (which is NOT the responsibility of your artist!). Remember, we’ve seen it all, so we know when you’ve been picking—and we do not offer free touchups for color loss that is the result of improper aftercare. You may indefinitely keep up the moisturizing process if you would like, but it is not necessary.

DO NOT PICK, PEEL, OR SCRATCH YOUR TATTOO DURING THE HEALING PROCESS!

DO NOT EXPOSE YOUR TATTOO TO THE SUN OR SWIM FOR AT LEAST 2-3 WEEKS. MAKE SURE IT IS COVERED WITH A BREATHABLE ARTICLE OF CLOTHING, NOTHING SUFFOCATING.
